Today's forecast: cloudy with a chance of innovation
We are delighted to be recognised for our innovative, fully managed cloud infrastructure. After listening to our customers’ needs and objectives, we took it upon ourselves to create and deploy our own cloud infrastructure combined with a fully managed service.
In recent years the telecoms and data market has seen a huge decline in revenues, and as a result we knew our traditional business model needed to evolve and diversify in order to maintain growth and security. Over the last three years, Silver Lining has focused on new markets and opportunities in order to ensure our continued development. The new products and diversification have led us to create and deploy our fully managed cloud solution. Many companies simply provide an off-the-shelf solution, whereas we work to identify our customers’ problems and deploy innovative solutions, combined with a fully managed service.
Silver Lining’s Managing Director, Allan Packer commented: “This is valuable recognition of all the hard work we have put in over the past few years. We have seen our business re-shape from a commodities reseller into a company that creates our own products through innovation, a deliverer of professional and managed services, and a shift from a mainly telecoms focused business to becoming a converged provider of telecommunications, cloud and IT services.”
We invested more than £1.5 million into building our cloud infrastructure. We realised that cloud IT and telephony is the future, with many customers opting for a hybrid solution with a combination of cloud and on-premise IT.
Hosted IT and telephony infrastructures are a real alternative to how companies buy and use technology within their business today. Cloud IT and telephony allows employees to access their applications, emails and data from anywhere at any time, allowing them to work more effectively and productively. True cloud computing is a way of delivering IT and telephony services to users without the need to buy, install or manage hardware. Flexible and modular in design, cloud IT is suitable for businesses of all sizes and offers genuine cost savings against traditional IT infrastructures.
In the three months following the launch of our cloud solution, we signed contracts with more than 20 companies from a number of retail, legal and financial organisations including the NHS. Through our engagement with smaller SMEs and larger companies, it became clear that we could innovate further and improve our solution to include a managed service. We also found that there were a number of additional positive side effects, one of which was ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery for no extra cost.
