Eggs-pect a great day at Silver Lining's Easter Fete!
January is behind us, February is in full swing, and March is just around the corner - which means we're gearing up for the most egg-cellent time of the year. That's right, it's Easter, also known as “figuring out how to entertain the kids for two weeks”! Well, we reckon we can help you with that.
Last year’s Easter Fete at the Granary was our most successful yet, attracting hundreds of patrons and raising well over £1,000 for charity. We even made it into the paper! This time around we're hoping the festivities will be even bigger and better (not TOO much bigger though, we've only got so much space). On Saturday March 31st, we'll hop to it to have a crack at raising some eggs-tra funds for our nominated charities!
One of the highlights of our 2017 fete was our fun dog show, attracting all manner of clever canines and manicured mutts. This year we're teaming up with the Stubbington Ark to bring the dog show to the fete once again. The Ark is the Solent branch of the RSPCA, focused on rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming our four-legged friends. Established a staggering 140 years ago, the Ark has grown year-on-year, its most recent additions including a state-of-the-art veterinary surgery. The charity takes in more than 6,000 animals each year; we want to do all we can to fund the care those animals need, such that they can enjoy the best possible quality of life.
This year we’re also supporting The Beau Halo Trust, a local charity which we at Silver Lining helped to found. The Trust aims to provide emotional, practical and financial support to bereaved parents within the local vicinity. Eventually, the Trust hopes to provide a 24/7 service with an on-call service option for newly bereaved parents. The Trust will also offer advice to family and friends of bereaved parents as well as training and awareness for healthcare professionals.
Aside from the dog show, there’s plenty else to enjoy at this year’s fete. Of course we’ll be hosting our famous FREE Easter egg hunt, so families with intrepid egg-hunting youngsters are welcome to take part. You can also expect a bouncy castle, as well as a few other fun fete games like the coconut shy, Pin the Tail on the Bunny, and one of last year’s firm favourites, the Nerf-gun tin can alley. For crafty souls, there’ll be face painting as well as an arts and crafts station. And don’t think we’ve left out the grown-ups; with a raffle, treasure island game, and plenty of refreshments on hand. Activities for the day aren’t final, so expect the unexpected. We hope to see you there!
