Business Development Manager

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 a year (dependant on experience) + uncapped commission
Location: Fareham
Hours of work: 40 hours per week

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for managing a small team of SMB account managers. Based from the Head Office in Whiteley, your team will be selling to the SME market predominately, working with a unique portfolio of innovative Cloud, IT, Voice and Data based solutions.
There will also be an opportunity for you to drive and sell our solutions to our customers.

Principle Accountabilities:

⦁    Develop and build strong relationships with the team of Account Managers and gaining the respect of our customers, providing advice, guidance and technical information on all equipment and services. Negotiate commercially viable contractual agreements with customers, which support business objectives and ensure that Silver Lining attains satisfactory profit levels.
⦁    Use appropriate sales techniques and an in-depth knowledge of all services and equipment supplied by Business Sales in order to sell solutions to business customers and meet specific sales targets set by the Director of Sales and Marketing.
⦁    Accept and respond to enquiries from both potential and existing customers, in order to provide customers with IT infrastructure consultancy, advise on corporate IT planning and design business continuity plans.
⦁    Manage the day to day running of business customers' accounts. Develop a good understanding of customers' individual requirements in order to make appropriate recommendations on solutions, which will meet both their current and future demands in terms of both services and cost. Provide an ongoing point of contact to ensure continued satisfaction with the company.
⦁    Maintain an up to date working knowledge of new and emerging technology and services, so as to continuously be able to offer business customers with competitive and innovative IT solutions.
⦁    Carry out sales presentations where necessary, and qualify recommendations on products and solutions.
⦁    Utilise all mediums available to prospect for new business, including social media, printed and online, tender and lead generation opportunities, meetings, exhibitions and conferences, networking and introduced recommendations.
⦁    Arrange and participate in demonstrations of equipment and services to potential customers, and assist the Marketing Communications Department to implement Sales & Marketing activities, ensuring that maximum interest is maintained and that productive working relationships are formed.

Person Specification:

⦁    The Business Development Manager must have a strong background managing sales team's/account managers, whether they be new business development or account management. You will ideally have exposure to SaaS Software, Cloud Technology or Telephony solution sales.
⦁    A background in sales or business development management and experience in the selling of products or services would be advantageous. It is important that the post holder is able to use Business Management knowledge and experience in order to assist the Account Managers in tailoring solutions to specific target markets.
⦁    The ability to manage a sales team and drive new business, whilst still maintaining our core clients service and satisfaction levels.
⦁    A solid understanding of IT/Communications technologies including connectivity, telephony products and services, computer systems, LAN and WAN solutions.
⦁    The ability to communicate with customers effectively in order to ascertain their specific requirements.
⦁    Receptive to, and enthusiastic about technical innovation, with the ability to learn and assimilate knowledge.
⦁    Be capable of working under pressure and able to meet targets and deadlines.
⦁    Excellent communication skills and telephone manner in order to converse and negotiate at all levels of management within the customers' organisation. Competent written skills are essential in order to write effective proposals and reports, deal with written enquiries, plan jobs and provide progress reports.
⦁    A good understanding of budgets and their use, and good mathematical skills in order to work within them.
⦁    The ability to pass on knowledge to colleagues from own and other groups.

Company benefits:

⦁    Although the salary package for the Business Development Manager will negotiable dependant on previous experience, initial induction is base salary up to £30,000, with an uncapped commission of bringing first year’s earnings to £70,000 OTE
